The Civil Service Commission (CSC) collaborated with two government agencies, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) to administer the applicants examinations to be held on March 13, 2016.
Who are Qualified
The fire and penology officer examinations will be open to both incumbent and former personnel of the BFP and the BJMP.
Applicants must:
- be Filipino citizens;
- have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution of learning;
- be physically and mentally fit;
- be of good moral character;
- have not been convicted of an offense involving moral turpitude;
- and have not been dishonorably discharged from military service or dismissed for cause from any civilian position in the government.*
What if I am not an incumbent employee of either BFP and BJMP?
If you are a private person but with interest in taking the examinations, you are still qualified. The CSC remained clear about the height requirements together with other qualifications listed above.
For the Fire Officer examination, you must be 21 to 35 years of age at the time of filing of applications with no height requirement needed. As for the Penology Officer examination, you must be 21 to 30 years of age with a height of 5'4" for male and 5'2" for female applicants.

Applicants must submit their application in person at the CSC Regional Office or nearby CSC Field offices, where you intend to take the examination. Please be reminded that a P700 examination fee will be collected.

If you pass the examination, you are granted the Eligibility for either Fire Officer or Penology Officer. Both eligibilities are considered second level by the CSC. This makes you qualified for second level rank positions in the BFP and BJMP offices. Last day of filing of applications for fire and penology officer examinations will be on January 22, 2016.
